Reach Out

To all SJN Families:

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce a new student based program our school family will be implementing this year. The SJNCS “Reach Out” program will support our parish stewardship efforts by encouraging students to take an active role in our parish community.  Through their participation in “Reach Out” activities, students will be reaching out to assist members of our sister parish, Sacred Heart, in Homestead, Florida.

All monthly “Reach Out” initiatives will be incorporated into classroom and collection activities focusing on the different needs of the Sacred Heart community.  As some of you may know, many of these families can benefit from common items we already have around our homes, such as children’s books, clothing we’ve outgrown, blankets we no longer need or an extra can or package from our pantry.  At no time will we ask for monetary donations or new items to be purchased.  This program is not meant to raise funds, but rather to promote student’s awareness and involvement as a school population and allow each child to understand that they are making a difference in someone else’s life. They will be actively helping their neighbor.

All projects and activities will be adapted to the appropriate age group of the students. Everyone from Pre-K3 to 8th grade has the opportunity to get involved.

You can expect to receive monthly updates related to the current project.  We are asking for your support in discussing “Reach Out” activities with your child. Please encourage their involvement and recognize their efforts toward helping others within our community.

With much appreciation,
