Athletic Director: Ricardo (Rick) Reyes
SJNCS offers after-school sports for students in grades 3 through 8. The students compete in primary, junior varsity and varsity sports against other Catholic school teams through the All Catholic Conference. Sports offered for boys and girls include:
- Track and Field
- Cross Country
- Flag Football
The Eagles sports program is unique in that throughout its history, in addition to the Athletic Director, our very qualified coaches are all volunteer coaches. Some have been former alumni, and most have been parents of children participating in the sports program. Although we don’t have a formal record of awards our coaches have received in the past, throughout the years several of our coaches have received the Sportsman of the Year award. The most recent being our Athletic Director, Rick Reyes in 2012, and volunteer parent coach Rick Lesperance in 2013.
The school’s size and population is limited by zoning restrictions to one class per grade, and as our pastor, Monsignor Pablo A. Navarro loves to brag, “Our jocks are our scholars, and our scholars are our jocks.” Historically, our scholar students participate in multiple sports throughout the school year. They win at the Academic Olympics and they win on the field.
This was most evident when under the direction of our former Athletic Directors of Denise Cope and Suzanne Speed, St. John Neumann Catholic School was awarded the 2A Division All Catholic Conference Overall Championship for four consecutive years from 2008 through 2012.
Through the generous donations of our parish and school community, in the fall of 2016, phase I of the SJNCS “Field of Dreams” was inaugurated. Phase I of the 100K plus investment includes new basketball and volleyball courts, a paved and lined track and a newly sodded field.
